UMIDIGI One Unboxing
Inside the box, You will get a UMIDIGI One Smartphone, Charger, Type-C Cable, Protective Case, SIM Card Ejector, and a Screen Protector, Which is pre-applied on the screen.
UMIDIGI One Display & Design
The design of this smartphone is one of the best selling points. UMIDIGI One is available in two colors: Twilight and Carbon Fiber, I like the Twilight color but both of them are awesome, you can choose anyone depending on your personal preference. The rear panel looks like a glass on the picture but actually it’s plastic, which means it can easily get scratched. But, They have includes a very good quality protective case with texture on it to protect the smartphone from scratches.
It has a 5.83-inch HD display with a notch similar to iPhone X. The 19:9 display has 720 x 1520 resolution, which is very less for a 5.83-inch display but you will not notice much difference in real-life usage. They claim that this smartphone has 90% screen to body ration and the screen almost looks like the advertised image but the bottom chin is bit larger.
UMIDIGI One Performance
UMIDIGI One is equipped with a MediaTek Helio P23 octa-core processor, an ARM Mali-G71 MP2 GPU, 4GB of RAM and 32GB internal Storage. P23 is not the best processor but it can easily handle all the daily tasks such as switching apps, surfing the web, video streaming, etc. I have also tried to play some heavy games like Asphalt 8 and Nova 3, I did not encounter any noticeable frame drops. The smartphone does get warm while playing a game but it’s not enough to be that noticeable.
This smartphone is running on Android 8.1.0 Oreo and I am not sure that it will get an update or not. You will get pure stock Android experience, apart from some google apps they have not included bloatware.
UMIDIGI One Battery
UMIDIGI One packs a 3550 mAh battery, which is 300 mAh bigger than the Pro version. You can easily get full day battery backup on moderate use. I played Asphalt 8 game for around 25 minutes and the battery percent decreased by 12%, which means heavy gamers will get 5-6 hours of battery backup.
The battery charging is not very fast, the 5V/2A Type-C charger takes around 1 hour and 50 minutes to charge the smartphone from 0 – 100%.
UMIDIGI One Camera
It has 12MP + 5MP dual rear camera and a 16MP front camera for a selfie. The default camera app has three modes: Normal, Stereo(Bokeh) and Panorama while the front camera supports only normal mode. Normal and Panorama modes work good but the Stereo mode is just useless. Stereo mode never blurs the background properly but the Normal mode clicks perfect bokeh effect photos.
The rear camera supports FHD video recording and you will also find an EIS option under the settings. Overall, Both the cameras are very good in the daylight and artificial light condition but the low light picture has lots of noise. You can watch the video review to see the camera sample.
UMIDIGI One Other Features
The fingerprint is placed on the power button, Fingerprint detects the finger instantly but it takes 2 seconds to unlock the smartphone. They have also included a DuraSpeed option under the settings, this setting boosts the performance of the foreground APP by restricting background Apps.
You can also change the navigation bar button position or you can use Swipe-up Gesture Navigation instead. But, they have not included an option to hide the notch by changing the color to black like other smartphones.
UMIDIGI One Verdict
UMIDIGI One is a great looking smartphone with good performance and battery life. However, the camera of this smartphone is not great but considering the price, it’s very good. In short, this is a great smartphone under a budget of $150 but 32GB internal storage is not enough for so many users. So, You can also check the Pro version, which has 64GB internal storage.
