UMIDIGI ONE — Steps To ROOT & Install TWRP!

Do want to Root UMIDIGI ONE & Install TWRP Recovery on it? Then You are at the right place. Today, I will show steps to install TWRP Recovery & Root The UMIDIGI ONE using Magisk.

You can do it without losing the data but for safety purpose, You should back up your data before proceeding. Note: The guide is only for UMIDIGI ONE, So don’t try this on another smartphone.

UMIDIGI ONE — Steps To ROOT & Install TWRP!

1) To start the process, you need to download ROM, SP Flash Tool, Magisk Manager, TWRP image and MediaTek Driver. Please remember to download the same version of the ROM package, which is currently installed on your smartphone.

Once you downloaded all the files, extract them on your PC.

Step 1. ROOT using Magisk

1) Copy ‘Magisk Manager APK‘ file from the downloaded file and paste it into the internal storage of your smartphone.

2) Copy ‘boot.img‘ file from the ROM folder and paste it into the internal storage of your smartphone.

3) Go to your smartphone and make sure it is connected to the internet. Then, Go File Manager » Internal Storage. Here you will see both the file, which you have pasted in the previous step.

4) Install Magisk Manager APK. Once installed, open it and click Install next to “Magisk is not Installed” message.

5) Click install again » Click Patch Boot Image File » Click Allow.

6) Select ‘boot.img‘ file from the internal storage then the app will start flashing. After a few seconds, you will see a message, “Patched image is Placed in Download folder.

7) Close the app and go to the internal storage again. Open Download Folder, Here you will see ‘patched_boot.img‘ file. You need to copy this file into the ROM folder in your PC.

8) Go back to the PC and connect your smartphone to the PC. Then, Go to the smartphone’s internal storage and copy ‘patched_boot.img‘ file from the download folder and paste it into the ROM folder in your PC.

9) Disconnect your smartphone and open SP Flash Tool folder then double click on the ‘flash_tool.exe‘ file to run it.

10) Click Choose to select the scatter-loading file. Go to the ROM folder, Select ‘MT6763_Android_scatter.txt‘ and click Open.

11) Unselect all the files and just select ‘boot.img‘ file. Then double click on the location of ‘boot.img‘ file. Select ‘patched_boot.img’ file, which you pasted in the previous step and click open.

12) Click the Download button. Now, Turn off your smartphone and connect it to the PC via USB Cable.

Windows 10 PC with an internet connection will automatically detect your smartphone then SP Flash tool will install the ‘patched_boot.img’ file in a few seconds. If SP Flash Tool is not detecting your smartphone then you can install MediaTek Driver and try again.

13) Turn on your smartphone and make sure internet connection in on. Open The Magisk Manager APP, Here you will see “Magisk is up to date” message, which means you have successfully rooted your smartphone. You can confirm it using ROOT checker app.

Step 2. Install TWRP

1) To install TWRP turn off your smartphone and go back to the PC.

2) Open SP Flash Tool folder, then double click on the ‘flash_tool.exe‘ file to run it.

3) Click Choose to select the scatter-loading file. Go to the ROM folder, Select ‘MT6763_Android_scatter.txt‘ and click Open.

4) Unselect all the files and just select ‘recovery.img‘ file. Then double click on the location of ‘recovery.img‘ file. Select ‘TWRP_3.2.3_One.img‘ file, which you downloaded.

5) Click the Download button. Now, Turn off your smartphone and connect it to the PC via USB Cable.

Windows 10 PC with an internet connection will automatically detect your smartphone then SP Flash tool will install the ‘TWRP_3.2.3_One.img‘ file in a few seconds.

6) Close the SP Flash Tool and go back to your smartphone. Turn on your smartphone by pressing Power + Volume UP Button at the same time.

After a few seconds, you will see a bootloader menu. You can use the Volume UP button to select an option. Select Recovery by pressing Volume UP button then click Volume Down button to confirm it.

Then, Your smartphone phone will boot into the TWRP recovery.

Done, You have successfully installed TWRP and Rooted your UMIDIGI One Smartphone.
