How To Add Shopify/WooCommerce Store To Google/Bing Webmasters Tool?

Google or Bing Search Engine doesn’t know that you created a new store. So, After creating your Shopify/WooCommerce dropshipping store, Your first step should be to add and verify your store to the Google and Bing Webmaster Tool.

This will allow the search engine to index your store properly and help them to improve the performance of your store in the search result. In this article, I’ll show you the step by step process to add and verify your store to Google and Bing Webmasters Tool.

Steps To Add Your Store To Google & Bing

First, You need to get a meta tag from Google & Bing and then paste that code into your domain/store to complete the verification.

Steps To Get Meta Tag From Google

1. Go To  Google Webmasters Tool ➤ Sign in using your Gmail account ➤ Click on Website Address ➤ Click “Add Property” Button. Note: If you haven’t added any website to Google Webmasters Tool yet then this tool will ask you to enter your store’s domain name directly.

2. Enter your store’s domain name and click “Continue”. Please make sure to use the exact address of your store because http://www.yourstore.com and https://www.yourstore.com are considered as a different website.

3. On the next page, Google will give you five different methods to verify your domain. Select “HTML Tag” from the list and Copy the Meta Tag.

Steps To Get Meta Tag From Bing

1. Go To  Bing Webmaster Tool ➤ Sign in using your Microsoft, Google or Facebook account ➤ Enter your store’s domain name ➤ Click “Add Property” Button.

2. On the next page, Bing will give you three different methods to verify your domain. Copy the Meta Tag from the second option “<meta> tag”.

Steps To Paste Meta Tag in Your Store

Now, you need to paste this(meta tag) code into your store’s home page. This step is different for Shopify and WooCommerce.

  • For Shopify User
    • To paste this code go to Shopify Dashboard ➤ Themes ➤ Find the theme you want to edit, and then click Actions ➤ Edit Code.
    • In the Layout section, click theme.liquid to open the file in the online code editor.
    • Paste the meta tag after <head> tag, which you copied in the third step and click “Save“.Paste Meta Tag in Shopify Store
    • Then go back to the Google(Left Image) and Bing(Right Image) Webmasters Tool page and click the “Verify” button to complete the verification.Verify Google and Bing
  • For WooCommerce User
    • To paste this code go to WordPress Dashboard ➤ Appearance ➤ Editor ➤ Select Theme Header(header.php) file from the right side.
    • Paste the meta tag after <head> tag, which you copied in the third step and click “Update File“.Paste Meta Tag in WooCommerce
    • Then go back to the Google(Left Image) and Bing(Right Image) Webmasters Tool page and click the “Verify” button to complete the verification.Verify Google and Bing
